The Notebook remake may be coming to the small screen soon.
According to Entertainment Weekly, a TV show based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel and the cult classic film is in development at The CW.
The most important thing for making this show a success will be finding two actors to recreate the onscreen magic Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling had on screen.
EW said that show will follow Noah and Allie’s romantic journey as they build their lives and future, “against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina.”
Rachel and Ryan won’t star in the show, but Nicholas will be executive producing, so we can be sure some of the magic will be seen on screen.
I loved this film and I’m excited to see what they come up with, but I think it’s a shame that they won’t have the old couple.
The CW president Mark Pedowitz told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s press tour: “I don’t believe we’re going to see the older couple—what they become. But things change [in development]. I’m thrilled Nick Sparks wanted to do it at The CW.”
A big part about what made this film great was the couple. Alzheimer’s couldn’t even diminish their love. It was so beautiful.
The other component of the film was the great casting. It will be tough finding two young actors to recreate the magic Rachel and Ryan had on screen. Without the great chemistry on screen, the show will not be a success.
The show is still in development, so we’ll have to wait and see what The CW comes up with.
Who do you think should play Allie and Noah? Can The CW recreate that magic on screen?
