Star City has been a mess since Oliver came back, but it seems to be worse than ever now. In Oliver’s absence the city has gotten to the point where it’s almost beyond saving.
The best scenes this week weren’t the ones with the action, it was the scenes between Lance and Oliver.
I was wondering how long it would take for Oliver to find out Lance was working with Damien Darhk. Oliver’s reaction was nothing like I would have imagined, but it was beautiful.
Oliver has put Captain Lance on this high pedestal and Lance has just coming crashing down.
I knew Oliver was going to run for mayor because of Lance, but I never realized how much Oliver respected him. Lance is a good man and he’s just been so desperate he’s made some bad choices.
I really enjoyed the scene where Oliver told Lance how disappointed he was in him. It was a beautifully emotional scene. Oliver had lost all hope in saving the city. He thought the city was ‘beyond redemption’.
Then when Oliver was almost killed by the police office, Lance renewed Oliver’s faith in saving the city. He said we have to save ourselves first before we can save our city. His words saved Oliver’s life and may just save the city.
It wasn’t just Lance that got Oliver to run for mayor again. It was Thea. She put together the team and she wrote him a beautiful speech, which was based on his own words.
Felicity took a little bit of a backseat in this episode. She still had some great scenes with Curtis though. I loved how Felicity said that this must be what it’s like to talk to her. She’s being on the other side of smart, witty rants. I hope the writers keep putting these two together.
It was also pretty funny how Thea almost ruined Oliver’s surprise. Thea thought Felicity would be wearing the engagement ring, but Oliver hasn’t gotten around to asking her yet. He really needs to get on that.
The DC Legend’s of Tomorrow show is starting take form on Arrow. Last week Sara came back from the dead and Laurel is trying to get her sister back to who she was. Which I don’t think is actually possible, but she’ll have to become something for the spin-off show.
This week we leave off with Sara breaking free and we have no idea what condition she’s in. The last we saw her, she was in no condition to be out in the world.
Ray is starting to come back now too. He’s been sending Felicity messages on her phone and now he’s sent his last words to her too. He said he’s sorry. The question now is, how did he survive that explosion?
For now it looks like we’ll find out how Sara is saved. Oliver calls in Constantine to give her back her soul.
