This wedding has been a long time coming. I was annoyed by the preview that it was going to be a trap for Katherine but the vows were some of the most beautiful I’ve ever heard. It was a perfect end to a relationship that I watched get closer and closer and fall in love. It was the slowest burning relationship I have ever seen and it will always be one of my favorites.
I remember Caroline telling Stefan that one day he would look up and be in love again. I remember that scene and remember thinking he’d fall in love with her and here they were getting married. I never imagined Stefan being human when this day finally came but life doesn’t always work out the way you expect. It’s not perfect but this was as close to perfect as it could be. I wanted the #SterolineJuneWedding to be all about them. I didn’t want other things to be interfering. While most of the wedding was all a trap for Katherine to show herself, the vows were real. They were pure and they were epic. A perfect end to the Steroline love story.
Of course, their love story isn’t necessarily done. We still have one more episode until the end. Vicki is about to burn Mystic Falls down in hell fire and we know that someone is going to die. I really have no idea who will die at this point and it’s making me very nervous. Bonnie could still be the one that dies but it’s unclear at this point. It doesn’t bode well for her that she collapsed at the end. She made it through that fire just to collapse.
The wedding wasn’t the only scene that brought me to tears. Damon and Caroline have never been the best of friends. Recently, Damon and Caroline have become okay. It had a lot to do with him missing her mother just as much as her. Damon brought me to tears when he called her family and when he talked about Sherriff Forbes. It was beautiful. It’s moments like this that make me really love Damon.
Alaric was also reminiscing about the past, about how he met everyone and became friends with Damon. I still hope he can be friends with Damon again. They were one of the best bromances I have ever seen. They were great together and the show should really end with them as friends again. It sounds like it could happen.
It’s also nice that Enzo’s ghost has been sticking around. If he wasn’t around Bonnie would have never been at Caroline’s wedding and I’m sure she would have regretted that. Enzo doesn’t seem to hold a grudge over Stefan. Everyone but Bonnie realizes that Stefan wasn’t himself at the time. Not that she’s in the wrong for hating him, I just hope they can work it out before then end.
I can’t believe there is only one episode left. We still have to see the epic Delena reunion but before that, they have to save Mystic Falls one last time.
