There may be less murder mystery in Riverdale but there’s still a lot of mysteries in this town.
An FBI agent comes to town, a brother is found and the South Side Serpents join the North Side at Riverdale High. What could possibly go wrong?
It should come as no surprise that the FBI is looking into Hiram (Mark Consuelos). We don’t know the depth of his corruption yet but he’s pulling Veronica (Camila Mendes) down with him. We definitely have some idea of what he’s capable of when he could stage a car accident after a boy tried to rape his daughter. Nick (Graham Phillips) definitely deserved to be punished but did the punishment fit the crime?
While it’s no surprise that the FBI is after Hiram, is Agent Adams who he says he is? He better be now that he has Archie (K.J. Apa) being his little spy. We already knew he’d been watching Archie but he’s definitely been paying attention. He knew the key to Archie was his father. Now he has Veronica to hold over him too. Hiram has a lot of enemies, so you never knew who could be sniffing around. If he is who he says he is, this is still a dangerous position for Archie to be put in.
This FBI agent wasn’t the only person to pop up in this episode. Polly (Tiera Skovbye) made an entrance, she’s already had her twins and named them some pretty strange names. Juniper and Dagwood? The main reason Polly showed up was so Betty (Lili Reinhart) would seak out her long-lost brother to cheer her mom up. Chic (Hart Denton) is pretty creepy. He seemed just like an angry boy who’s mom left him at first but every second after that that he was on screen, he got creepier and creepier. All the way to the point where he’s watching Betty sleep. I don’t think this was the brother Betty was hoping to find.
I’m not sure what the Lodges’ endgame is with shutting down South Side High but we’re continuing to see a change in Jughead (Cole Sprouse). I don’t see any issue with the principal not allowing gang activities and paraphernalia. I think that’s a pretty basic rule for a high school and Jug seems to be the only one pushing back. If he didn’t refuse to take off his jacket, the others might not have been forced to where Riverdale High clothes. He’s trying way too hard to be part of the Serpents. Why? He’s acting like he’s never belonged but he had a nice little group of friends when he was at Riverdale High before. It doesn’t matter how many people are in the group, you can still belong. I’m not liking Jug the more and more he tries so hard to fit into the Serpents.
We may have got our answer about the black hood. Archie asked the FBI Agent if they got the right guy and confessed that he doesn’t believe they did. We didn’t get a reaction from the agent but I think Archie thinking what the rest of us are is enough to believe we haven’t seen the last of the black hood.
