I’ll be honest, the only reason I watched Life Sentence was because Lucy Hale starred in it but it was even better than I could ever have imagined. It was always going to be good because Lucy is in it. It’s the dramedy I’ve needed in my life. I loved Gilmore Girls because it was equal parts comedy and drama and I’ve wanted that back in my life. Enter: Life Sentence.
If all of that wasn’t making this a good show, it reminds me of Veronica Mars but this narrator is a clueless sweetheart and it turns out that’s exactly what they were going for:
That’s what we were going for #LifeSentence

That’s the moment this became my new favorite show.
Stella’s family has been lying to her since she got sick and her husband has also been telling her what she needed to hear to have that perfect love story. Now that the cancer is gone, she’s getting to know everyone in her life. Everyone is a mess. Her brother Aiden (Jayson Blair) is sleeping with soccer moms and got one of them pregnant. Her sister Elizabeth (Brooke Lyons) gave up a scholarship to Columbia to take care of her. Her father (Dylan Walsh) shut everyone out to make sure she was happy. And her mother (Gillian Vigman) seemed like she was the one that was the most messed up but in all reality, she just wanted to let go of all the pain.
The family is a mess but they love each other and it makes for some great moments.
Some of the best moments are probably with Wes (Elliot Knight) and Stella. They have this beautiful love story and now the honeymoon is over. Now they have to get to know each other and figure out how to spend the rest of their lives together. When you really think about it, it was weird that he would marry a dying girl but turns out he truly fell in love with Stella. Making her happy in her final days was all that mattered. That was the most beautiful speech I have ever heard.
Pretty much everyone on this show is clueless and I love it. I missed Aria from Pretty Little Liars so much but looks like I’m going to love Stella just as much.
