We fell in love with the world of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals because of the great characters, and we’re about to do the same with Legacies.
We may not be getting all of our old favorites back, but we will get Alaric (Matthew Davis) and Matt (Zach Roerig). We’ll also get the chance to get to know Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) better.
In the series premiere, we’ll be put right in the middle of Hope’s new world and get to see how powerful she’s become. We’ll also get to see the rules Alaric has set for the Salvatore Boarding School, and how the students get around his rules. Even when they break his rules, Alaric seems to be right on top of it.
It’s great to get to see Alaric again and see the relationship Hope and Alaric have built since she went back to the school, but my favorite thing about the premiere was getting to meet all the new faces.
My favorite is MG (Quincy Fouse). He’s Alaric’s assistant. That doesn’t spoil anything because they tell you this right away. He’s also a vampire. He seems to have a big heart and is still very innocent. He’s also very funny and I was just drawn to him. I’m looking forward to getting to know him.
He’s friends with one of the Saltzman’s twins, Josie (Jenny Boyd). She also has a big heart and she cares more about taking care of other people than herself, especially her sister, Lizzie (Kaylee Bryant). Josie is going through a breakup when we first meet her but she’s more concerned about her sister. She’s not dealing with her grief and that could cause some problems, you’ll see what I mean.
Lizzie is an interesting character because at first glance she seems like the mean girl but she has more layers than that. She’s just a high school girl trying to figure out her way in the world and the school. Josie and Lizzie somewhat rule the school with their father
being in charge, but both of these girls have more to deal with than the average teenage girl because of their powers. Hormones and being powerful clearly don’t go hand in hand, but we know all about that with Hope.
We also see Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) again in the premiere. He’s not quite where we left him in The Originals but he and Hope are reunited. We learn a lot about the school just by Landon learning all about the supernatural. Hope is trying to trust this boy, which is something she has difficulty with.
We see Hope’s trust issues when it comes to the Saltzman’s twins. They don’t get along but there may be a chance for them to find common ground, we’ll just have to wait and see.
There’s a new werewolf in town too, Rafael (Peyton ‘Alex’ Smith). He’s lived most of his life in a foster home and he finally finds a home within the Salvatore Boarding School and he’s finally understanding who he is.
The first episode is a lot of fun and reveals some great twists. I’m most looking forward to learning more about all the new characters, as well as seeing Hope in a new environment.
The wait is finally over, tun in Thursday, October 25 at 9/8c pm on The CW to see the start of this new chapter.
