Last week we had an epic opening to season seven, and this week it was down to business, but certainly not in a bad way.
We may not get OTA or NTA back. It’s clear that we are living in a new world in the Arrow universe. It doesn’t help that in the flash forwards that William (Jack Moore) says that Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver (Stephen Amell) just left him. It broke my heart when John (David Ramsey) told Felicity that she’s never going to get her old life back and getting Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) won’t change that. John is partly wrong, she may not get Oliver back, but at least her and William will no longer be in danger.
I’m not sure how I feel about never getting our Green Arrow back. Can that really be true? Is the Green Arrow as we know him gone forever? There’s no telling how many seasons the writers want to keep this going, and how many seasons fans can be okay with not having the Green Arrow as we knew him.
In the premiere episode, I was loving the darkness. I was loving it all. I especially loved the fight scene between Felicity and Diaz, and the one with Oliver in the shower, but now I have mixed feelings.
There are definitely things I liked about this episode. I liked Felicity working with the team again, I liked the John and Diaz fight. The Laurel (Katie Cassidy) fight was quite good too. It was nice seeing her back in action and fighting on the right side of the things. I also liked that Felicity went to the DA to stop Diaz. We’ll have to wait and see if the DA takes her up on her offer. I think they could really use someone like Felicity to help them.
I also liked that Oliver found another way to get rid of the guard and get the info he needed. It’s nice to see that prison isn’t changing him, if anything, it’s making him more creative. He’s having to use some of the tricks Felicity has taught him, which was great. If the writers keep coming up with more of this, I can survive with Oliver being in jail for a little while. Not forever, though.
All that being said, the writers are definitely working the storyline well, but I’m sure I’m not the only fan that is wondering when or if Oliver will put the hood back on, especially after what it has done to his family.
Can we have an Arrow show without Oliver as the Green Arrow? I’m with Felicity, there is only one Green Arrow and he’s in prison. I’m still wondering who this new guy is but he’s not the Green Arrow. We need Cisco to come up with a new name for this guy. Or girl, because let’s be real, the person could be either.
One thing is for sure, I’m happy that Felicity is back fighting from her computer. I could not last an entire season with Felicity in hiding. We need her where she can do the most good, and that’s fighting the good fight behind a computer.
