Tell Me a Story took it to a new level I wasn’t expecting, but hindsight, the way everything else has gone, I should have seen it coming.
People do desperate things when they are pushed to the brink, but I never would have expected Nick (Billy Magnussen) to kill Ethan (Rarmian Newton). While him killing Ethan surprised me, what surprised me more was how diligently he cleaned it up. He knew exactly what to do and was pretty calm doing it. Has he done something like this before? Or maybe he’s just read some pretty good crime books. Either way, I’m looking at Nick in a completely different way.
I knew Kayla (Danielle Campbell) was going to run straight to him after her confrontation with her dad. Kevin Williamson has a way with storytelling because I didn’t want Kayla to find out Nick killed Ethan, at least not yet. I have a feeling that this storyline is going to get even better. I was on the edge of my seat wondering if she was going to catch on.
It’s no wonder Kayla is falling for Nick. She’s a mess. She blames her father for her mother’s death. It was heartbreaking to see her confront her father but it makes so much sense now. Not that she needed another reason for rebelling against her dad, but if it’s true and he was cheating on her mother, he has no authority over her. I’m not sure how he can reach her but he can’t keep doing what he’s doing.
I’m beginning not to like Hannah (Dania Ramirez). She’s so angry at her mother that she can’t see straight. Gabe (Davi Santos) is right, her immediate reaction is to run too.
The Three Little Pigs storyline is starting to shape up like the old fairy tale. How far will Jordan (James Wolk) take this metaphor? I feel for Jordan but I’m not rooting for him or against him. I don’t really care what happens to Mitch (Michael Raymond-James) or Sam (Dorian Missick), but poor Eddie (Paul Wesley). You can tell he has such a good heart, he’s just lost. That’s why he’s an addict. Mitch got his brother into this and Sam’s the one who shot the people. I don’t see any redeemable qualities in Mitch or Sam but Eddie is a good person. Eddie and Jordan are just two very lost people in need of direction.
You can also start to see Little Red Riding Hood in Kayla’s storyline. Nick seemed like such a good guy, but this can’t end well. Even Hannah and Gabe’s story is starting to come clear.
Now that these storylines are starting to resemble the old fairy tales, where do they go from here? They certainly don’t go the way of the old tales. If anything is clear, it’s that these stories are probably going to go as dark as they can go.
