Elseworlds has been a pretty crazy ride so far and part II was particularly interesting for me. Before Arrow was on the air, Batman was my favorite superhero and then I met Oliver Queen, and the rest is history. I also love the show, Gotham. While this wasn’t a true Batman / Green Arrow or Gotham / Arrow crossover, it was pretty damn close and as close as we probably will get. But we did get a badass Batwoman, so that definitely made up for no Batman.
I love it when Team Arrow and Team Flash work together. We don’t see that enough. The Flash and Arrow have such great characters and they have great chemistry when they work together. That is the best thing about these crossovers. Kara (Melissa Benoist) also has great chemistry with Barry (Grant Gustin) and Oliver (Oliver). That’s also what makes these crossovers so great. And for months beforehand we get to hear and see on social media how much the actors are having fun. You can definitely tell how much now that we are finally watching the episodes.
It was surreal seeing them go to Gotham and break into Arkham. There were so many easter eggs it was hard to keep track. This is definitely an episode you will have to watch more than once to catch all of them.
If it couldn’t get any better, Barry and Oliver were dosed with gas and hallucinated seeing each other’s arch enemies: Reverse Flash and Merlin.
It was really strange seeing Oliver with Iris (Candice Patton) Sunday night, and then now Barry with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). It was a lot of fun watching them try to explain it to people, though.
Last year’s crossover featured The Legends of Tomorrow too, and I don’t watch that show, so it’s nice for me to just see a crossover of shows I watch. All of their problems are still there, so it’s nice to be in the know and not just seeing characters I know very little about.
We’re only two nights in and next up they have to defeat Evil Superman without their powers. Barry has lived without his powers before and Oliver, can you really just take away his man-made strengths? Oliver has to still be able to do what he could do, right? I realize their abilities were swapped before, but still.
It was nice seeing Oliver knock out Diaz. That was a cruel twist of fate in this reality that he’s a cop.
Did anyone else get a glimpse of the book and see what looked to be Nora’s code? Does she tie into this or does she come later? Of course, Nora is a Flash question and not an Arrow question.
Who knows if a Batwoman spin-off will happen but Ruby Rose was really good as Kate Kane. The writers left her with just enough mystery to create the show but gave us enough to enjoy meeting her too. If it wasn’t for her, their plan would have failed. If we can’t get a spin-off, maybe she can team up with one or more of the characters in the Arrowverse from time to time.
