2020 was looking better when we got not only a new Taylor Swift album but also Wynonna Earp was back in our lives. Unfortunately, that was short-lived.
After Sunday’s episode, the promo for this week’s airing said it would be the mid-season finale. We’ve only had five episodes! That’s not nearly enough to fill the void Wynonna Earp has left us with being off the air for two years, not to mention the little TV content that is on at the moment.
I was surprised that Wynonna came back. I thought production got shut down, and of course, it was. We should be happy that Syfy gifted us with any episodes given they haven’t finished shooting the season yet. But that doesn’t mean it still doesn’t suck when there is so little TV out there, and shows are just now slowly starting to get back to production.
The fall season is going to look very different this year, considering shows would have started premiering in about a month, but won’t be able to do so with only getting back to production now or will soon get back to production.
What Wynonna Earp‘s cast, writers, producers and crew have given us so far this season has been fantastic. We needed those fun episodes in the beginning since we had missed the cast so much. And with so much doom and gloom going on in the world as it is. Fun was needed.
Sadly, just when we are finally getting to the core of season four, it’s going to be taken away from us again. We just got Jeremy (Varun Saranga) back, and Nicole (Katherine Barrell) needs to be saved. I do have faith that she will be saved, though. The fandom would go nuts if they killed off half of everyone’s favorite ship.
We know a little bit about what Nicole did, but I’m sure when it all comes out, we will all forgive her. Sam, Dean, Castiel, and even Jack on Supernatural have all done questionable things to save each other. And think about the length Damon on The Vampire Diaries was willing to go to save Elena, not that she would always let him. In any supernatural show, deals are made to save loved ones.
This family feud is interesting because Mam seems to be the only one invested in it. Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) only wants to save her family. Sherriff Clayborn (Ty Olsson) would be just as happy to be left to live his life. But his mom wants revenge, and it appears that we’re not even sure how it all got started in the first place. This storyline will be interesting to explore.
And Wynonna is still on the hunt to get Peacemaker back. Will she get it back, or will she have to rely on her wits and her team to fight demons? As much I would love for her to get her gun again, She’s a badass without it, and I would like to see her realize that and battle demons without the weapon more.
Hopefully, production on Wynonna Earp will get back to production soon, and safely. Then, we don’t have to wait too long for the second half of the season.
