Superman & Lois knows how to leave us on a cliffhanger. With a two-week hiatus, they leave us with one of the biggest cliffhangers yet.
Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) can’t have lost his powers for good, right? It just might take him longer to heal. We knew Ally Allston (Rya Kihlstedt) could steal his powers, but I don’t think any of us thought that she would suck him dry. And almost to the point of death.
Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan) was getting on my nerves in this episode. She believed Ally above anything else. It took her father almost dying and her brother-in-law, though she doesn’t know that part, for her to finally come around. Can Lois Lane (Bitsie Tulloch) ever forgive her? If there is ever a reason for Lois to stop trying, this would be it. Did Lucy really have no idea what Ally wanted with Superman? She can’t be that dumb. But I guess that’s what happens when you believe in something and can’t see reason from anyone else. Lois and Sam Lane (Dylan Walsh) tried countless times to reason with her, but nothing worked.
If it wasn’t for Chrissy Beppo (Sofia Hasmik) reacting so quickly, Clark Kent and Sam could be dead. And, if Chrissy stuck around, she may figure out Clark is Superman. Considering how upset Lois was, it seemed pretty clear. Or maybe just to us because we already know.
Maybe we should be more worried about Ally merging the two worlds now that she has Superman’s power —especially seeing that Superman is not able to stop her. But Ally is not leaving any loose ends. She’s sending Bizarro Lana Cushing (Emmanuelle Chriqui) to finish him off. The lead-up to the end of season two couldn’t get more intense.
John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) may not want his daughter, Natalie Irons (Tayler Buck), to become a superhero, but it’s just in time. If Superman is out for the moment, they will need everyone they can get to help. And Natalie’s suit is better than her father’s. (He taught her well.)
Jordan Kent (Alex Garfin) could step in for his father too. He’s no match for Ally, but maybe with him, Natalie and John, they could have a chance. There are calls for Supergirl to come help, but that all depends on scheduling and if they were able to get Melissa Benoist to guest star. It certainly does seem like the obvious answer at the moment. Let’s hope the producers and writers pulled that off.
Can there be a Superman & Lois without Clark being Superman? Jordan isn’t ready to take over full-time, plus he has school. So it’s probably just temporary. The writers are making it super intense and scary, but there’s always a way. Until the end of the series, anyways, and then no one is safe.
We may have to wait two weeks to find out what happens next, but I think we can all rest assured that his powers should come back at some point. Just maybe not in the next episode. And if they don’t, then the writers really want to shake us.
