We waited for nine episodes for our Malex reunion, and then the Roswell, New Mexico writers had to go and rip our hearts out. All I’ve been saying, and all other people on social media have been saying are we have to find Alex Manes. We finally found him, but were we too late?
I was pleasantly surprised that we had our Malex reunion about halfway through the episode. I thought for sure it would be at the end of the episode. Michael Guerin (Michael Vlamis) tackled Alex (Tyler Blackburn) because he was wearing a gas mask and walking toward that container that Bonnie (Zoe Cipres) and Dallas (Quentin Plair) were trapped in. We should have known that something was up since he was wearing the mask. But we were just too happy to have our Malex back together. It was so sweet watching them catch up. And Alex talked about him looking up at the sky and thinking he was doing the same. He didn’t even get mad when Michael said he was thinking about going home. And Alex never said he would go with him.
Then they are about to have sex, and Alex has a sharp pain in his chest. He finally tells Michael that the air is toxic and he’s dying. Seriously? The writers make us wait almost the entire last season to save Alex, and now they’re going to tell us Alex is going to die. That we aren’t going to get our Malex endgame? Well, that’s just not acceptable. We’ve been invested since the beginning. These two have been through way too much to have their love story end this way. Alex needs to live. Max Evans (Nathan Parsons), Isobel Evans (Lily Cowles), Liz Ortecho (Jeanine Mason), Maria DeLuca (Heather Hemmens), Kyle Valenti (Michael Trevino), Rosa Ortecho (Amber Midthunder) and Sanders (Nicholas Ballas) all have to be at the wedding. We deserve this.
Right now, it looks like Dallas is going to officiate the wedding in the pocket world. Is this really what the writers are giving us? We’re going to get to hear these incredibly emotional vows just to then watch them say goodbye to each other. Kyle and Liz can fix this. They can find a way to cure Alex. You know they will do everything they can to save him. That’s how this story should end.
We still have two episodes left, and next week’s promo doesn’t show Alex and Michael. It better have them in after we missed so much of our Malex. But maybe that means there’s hope. The writers will torture us, but in the end, we will get our endgame.
Yeah, I love Echo too. But if I had to choose, I would prefer to get Malex as the endgame and to let go of Echo. In fantasy shows like this, there’s always a possibility that someone might die, but why does it have to be Alex? Or watch the writers flip the script, and Alex lives, and Michael dies — either way, that would break our Malex hearts.
