Matt Czuchry has looked suspicious since episode two of this season of American Horror Story, if not before. Delicate episode four makes it look even more possible that he can’t be trusted.

My first clue that Dex in American Horror Story could be evil was that Matt wasn’t doing much. I didn’t believe he would just be the supportive husband. And it’s not like he’s been 100 percent supportive. There’s a lot of gaslighting, and he’s even doing it with his mother, too.
It does sound unbelievable that she was a victim of satanic rituals by her ex-husband. Of course, on this show, that makes total sense. Plus, there’s a lot of satanic stuff happening in the background.
This opens up a world of possibilities for Dex in American Horror Story. There’s clearly a satanic past in his family. He’s a part of it, whether directly or indirectly. The way he acts like Anna Victoria Alcott (Emma Roberts) is crazy, and he did the same thing with his mom, which could mean he knows about what happened. Or he’s suppressed it. With his satanic past, that could explain what’s happening with Anna.
The flashback at the beginning means there was a deal that was made. Could the deal been made with his mother and father, and the Ashley’s are collecting in the form of Anna and Dex’s baby? If Dex is playing a bigger role in it, he could have made the deal. But the question is if you can make a deal for someone else’s baby. In The Originals, Esther gave up all of her children’s firstborns, but we don’t know what lore we are working with here yet.
Part of this theory involves a redemption arc for Dex in American Horror Story. His mother is forcing him to face their family’s past. Anna already proved him wrong when she said she felt something move, and he thought she was being crazy or cruel. He is not understanding and is easy to judge. So, facing that everything that his mother and his wife say is true could lead him to realize he needs to treat the women in his life better. And he could repent for what part he played in the satanic rituals.
This is all just speculation at this point since each week. We will be given more clues as to what is going on. It could just as easily be Siobhan Corbyn (Kim Kardashian) that made the deal. We also found out this week that she’s sleeping with the director and has a secret that involves how he came up with the movie’s plot. So, she could have made a deal to make Anna a star in exchange for the baby. But that seems a little on the nose.
There will be many more twists as the American Horror Story season 12 unfolds. I’m sure more clues will point to Dex and Siobhan.
