Roswell, New Mexico is back. I spent the first 15 minutes trying to remember where everything left off. It has been over a year since we’ve caught up with our people, so it’s no wonder it took me a second.
Jones was easy. He was the last thing we saw and the first thing we see.
Liz (Jeanine Mason) left town when we last saw her. Now, she’s thriving in LA, doing the research she was doing in Roswell. She’s not happy, though, as Kyle (Michael Trevino) pointed out. But he was wrong about Max (Nathan Parsons) moving on. He’s just drinking away his pain. That’s not exactly what I call moving on.
By the end of the episode, though, they were both moving on. Liz with her colleague, Heath (Steven Krueger). Welcome to the show Steven! Always nice to see another familiar face from The Originals! Max was moving on with the singer. I guess after a year, this was bound to happen even if it’s not what our Echo hearts want.
None of our fave ships are together. Alex (Tyler Blackburn) was still nonexclusively seeing Forrest (Christian Antidormi), but it appears that’s over when he decides not to join Forrest on his book tour. It looks like Alex will join this Deep Sky. But can he? If it means we never see him and we can’t get scenes with him and all the characters Tyler is excellent with, then I don’t want this. He can’t help his friends if he can’t speak to them. And he can’t be with Michael (Michael Vlamis). But Max, Isobel (Lily Cowles) and Michael could really use some answers, especially when Max is not doing well. He’s rejecting the donor’s heart. I’m sure all of this drinking is not helping.
All it would take to get Liz back would be one phone call and telling her that Max is not doing well. So, why doesn’t someone call her and get her back? I give it three episodes max before she heads home.
A lot is going on in the season three premiere, and they gave us a lot of what we love. I can’t get enough of the Isobel, Michael and Max threesome. It was heartbreaking when Max finally told him. But I also loved when Isobel was training them with her mind. They all are tapping into their potential now, unlike when they hardly used their powers or hid when they were using them.
The Liz and Kyle friendship is one of my favorites. Michael Trevino has excellent chemistry with all of them. For example, he also had great scenes with Alex and Isobel. I liked him when he was in The Vampire Diaries, but I love him here, and he somehow got hotter.
Nathan is doing an incredible job showing Max on his downward spiral. You feel for him but want to slap him all at the same time. He has Isobel and Michael who can help him, but he waited to tell them. Plus, Kyle had to borrow an ambulance to give him a check-up since he wasn’t going in anymore. And as I was talking about earlier, that was another great scene from Kyle.
Now, we’ll have to see how he comes back from this.
Maria (Heather Hemmens) had another vision. Everyone just thought it was Max in the coffin, but it wasn’t. A few men come in wearing alien masks and attack Maria. She kills one of them in self-defense. This is insane. If it were safe for her to practice, I’d say she needs to hone her skills to read the premonitions better. It took Phoebe on Charmed some time too. She’ll get here.
Maria wasn’t the only one to get attacked. Wyatt (Dylan McTee) recognized Rosa (Amber Midthunder) at art therapy, and while she tried to quell his suspicions, it didn’t work. He showed up at the diner with a gun. You have to love these badass women fending off their attackers.
