With each passing The Morning Show episode, Paul Marks looks more suspicious. At first glance, he seemed like a nice man. But it’s clear he’s very manipulative. You would think Alex Levy would catch on, but she’s fallen pretty hard for him.
Warning: Spoilers
I’ve seen Paul (Jon Hamm) be very manipulative. For instance, his answer to the question about the Stanford student refocused on himself and acted like he had learned, but he hadn’t. He’s still getting exactly what he wants, how he wants it. How was Stella Bak (Greta Lee) going to turn down a massive promotion to CEO of UBA?
But Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) was right when he told Stella Bak (Greta Lee) that Paul Marks saw her as a problem he had to fix. It was an easy fix, giving Stella a huge career move, and he wouldn’t have to worry about her making any problems. He may have done the same with Kate Danton (Natalie Morales). She was ready to tell Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) everything but never showed up to the theater. Maybe Amanda’s (Tig Notaro) call spooked her, and it’s nothing more than that. But it’s weird that Amanda knew where she was. While some fans believe that Paul took care of her by killing her, I don’t think Paul is that evil. But he is calculated. His Hyperion company needs money now, so he will sell UBA for parts. He never cared about being in the media business, just about himself.
Cory fought hard to save the company, and now it looks like Fred Micklen (Tom Irwin) will pick up the pieces in the fire sale. It’s going to be a full-circle moment. If season four is the last season, that would make a lot of sense. But does Fred have enough money to get his company back? I don’t think he has as much money as Paul Marks.
I just hope that this doesn’t all blow up in Alex Levy’s (Jennifer Aniston) face. She’s getting the chance to have the power and a say, but she doesn’t really know Paul Marks enough to go into business with him. And it seems super fast from them hooking up to this. Maybe this is just his way of fixing this problem. That’s all he’s about: fixing issues that will mess up his business.
How bad of a secret does Kate have? Cory should have done more due diligence in this deal. Yes, he needed the money, but this could lead to the end of UBA anyway. Whatever this secret is, it is probably big enough to ruin Paul, his company and this deal. Let’s just hope Bradley and Chip Black (Mark Duplass) can discover what it is before the deal goes through. And maybe Chip can save Alex Levy from whatever Paul Marks’s true agenda is.

Maybe Alex Levy should have listened to her doubts before:
