This episode was a big surprise and slightly disappointing all at the same time.
I was actually looking forward to Sam and Dean tackling the ghost of Lizzie Borden, but sadly the case had very little to do with the infamous girl.
Everything always seems to come back to the Darkness though. It did last week and it came back around a lot quicker this week.
It wasn’t a ghost committing all the ax murders, it was Amara. Well not Amara exactly, but she was the cause. She took away the babysitter’s soul and she started killing people.
She wasn’t the only victim of Amara. A very sweet, nerdy, Lizzie obsessed guy also had his soul taken.
He didn’t act like anyone who had just had their soul taken away though. He saved Sam and Dean’s lives and he turned himself in for all the murders to stop himself from killing anyone. Even without a soul, this guy was just so sweet. I felt so bad for him. I hope that the Winchesters can figure out how to get his soul back and get him acquitted for all the murders one day. The man has a good heart, even without his soul.
This case was interesting because for a moment it appeared to be just a serial killer and occasionally these boys do run into normal cases. Then all of a sudden it turned into the Darkness.
I love when run of the mill cases tie into the overall story arc of the season. They wanted to find a lead on Amara and little did they know, there’s more signs then they might think.
She might be a bit harder to find than they think, considering she’s watching them and they have no idea. She’s one step ahead of them and they have nothing on her. These boys may be the only ones to defeat her, but they haven’t figured out the how yet.
Sam made a bad mistake last week when he told Cas to watch Netflix. Since he discovered the streaming network, he hasn’t stopped watching it. He’s onto season two of The Wire. Doesn’t he know all pop culture though? Metatron put all of it in his brain, so I guess he’ll have to watch all new things.
Baby was back to normal this week. I wonder how long it took Dean to fix her up? She really did take a beaten last week.
Amara is somewhat back in her sights and next Crowley is having trouble dealing with his adoptive daughter.
