I’m not saying it was bad in anyways, I’m just saying that it should have happened a while ago, especially with the other superhero shows scattered across television.
There was so much girl power going on I loved it! Of course we had Kara, but then there was her sister, Alex, the boss, Cat, and a villain, which is also her aunt, Alura.
Melissa Benoist did a great job stepping into the hero role, but starting out as a normal girl. Though Winn clearly saw she was more than just a normal girl from the beginning.
I’m interested about the relationship she has with Winn. He clearly likes her, but he’s just a friend to her. Why did she choose him of all people to tell her secret to? This clearly is an important relationship to her, even if she hasn’t admitted it yet.
Being a superhero is much more complicated than it seems. Once you become a hero, you get a target on your back.
It’s not her fault that these criminals landed on earth with her, but she’s taking it upon herself to stop them.
I never read the comics, so feel free to inform me on this. Why is Superman’s mother leading criminals? Why isn’t Superman taking them on? Besides for the fact that this is Supergirl’s show.
I love that Alex is also sort of a superhero, in more of the traditional form, but still. It means that these sisters will be fighting crimes together.
I loved Chyler Leigh on Grey’s Anatomy and I’m very happy to see her back on TV and in an even stronger role.
She’s not the only one I’m happy to see. I also love Calista Flockhart. Once again Calista is playing a cat. On Brothers and Sisters she was playing Kitty and now she’s playing Cat. And she’s also in a communications field again, which as nothing to do with the show, but I had to mention it.
I think if the writers want to bring the males in, they’ll have to give some of the males a good role on the show too.
On Arrow, clearly Stephen Amell is the lead role, but the females have strong roles on the show too. Katie Cassidy and Willa Holland have become heros and Felicity does her fair share of butt kicking. There’s a lot of great roles on Arrow and I love all the action. It wraps in a nice little love story too. It’s got everything!
Supergirl has a lot of girl power, which I like, but it doesn’t have a lot a male power. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I’m just thinking of the guy viewers.
I think to really make an impact this show needs to try to bring in both male and female viewers. Female viewers are easy with all the girl power, but the males might be a little harder.
James Olsen knows Superman, so maybe he can bring some guy viewers in. He wasn’t in very much of the pilot, but he made his mark.
I got to interview Mehcad Brooks at New York Comic Con and I don’t care what he says, there’s definitely something brewing between James and Kara. Maybe the writers don’t want to bring a romance in right away or maybe they just don’t want to spoil it, but it’s there.
Kara has embraced who she is and next week we can really dive into the evil she will face.
