I wasn’t sure about Jesse being a speedster. I don’t know why, I just wasn’t feeling it. Now that I’ve seen it, it might not be such a bad idea.
I’m more interested in what it’s done for Wally’s (Keiynan Lonsdale) character. He’s clearly upset that it didn’t happen to him. I have a bad feeling he’s going to go to Alchemy to get his powers. He sat there listening to Frankie’s story on how she got her powers and he’s having those dreams too. He wants the powers that badly, I think he’ll go to the enemy to get them.
Not all meta-humans are evil, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes), case in point, but I think when the powers come from Alchemy they are corrupted. I have no evidence of this, that’s just what I believe.
Barry has really screwed up the timeline. How many other people are having dreams of the powers they had in Flashpoint? And this is going to hit very close to home. Wally is basically Barry’s brother. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) is going to be devastated if Wally goes to Alchemy to get his speed. Will Joe be able to put aside the fact that this is directly because of what Barry did?
It was nice having Harry (Tom Cavanagh) and Jesse (Violett Beane) back because they weren’t affected by the changing timeline. It was nice to have something of normalcy in the midst of all the chaos. This may be the end of Barry going back in time ever again. I think he’s finally learned his lesson, just way too late.
There is one nice thing about this timeline, Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) are finally giving it a go. While I’ve never been a fan of this ship, I’m coming around to it and I’m happy they are finally trying. Looks like it might be slow going since both of their dates have been interrupted, first by Cisco, then by Joe.
Julian (Tom Felton) is a very interesting character. Why is he the senior lab tech? That aside, did he seem weird when they saw Alchemy go through the wall at the meta prison? It’s like he wasn’t surprised or concerned and he asked Barry if he knew that name or believed in ghosts, like he knew Barry knew something. Either Julian is on to Barry being the Flash, or he’s up to something. Maybe it’s time to start asking the others about Julian. Barry has no reference of this new guy that is suddenly in this new timeline. I can’t imagine the writers stuck him in there just to annoy Barry, there’s got to be more to his presence.
