I fell in love with Younger in the first season but I’m falling in love with it all over again. The third season is incredible. It was so much fun in the beginning, wondering how long Liza could pull off her double life, but now it’s evolved into something else entirely.
She’s still living a double life and has the cute boyfriend we all want but there’s so much more to the show now. If you ever want to know what’s in right now, just look to Younger. The writers are keeping you up-to-date with what’s in and what’s not. According to Lauren (Molly Bernard), on fleek is out. And we just learned about bad pancakes, in the relationship sense. And what is tram slamming? There was that too. Are you feeling cooler yet?
I’m so glad the writers have developed Lauren’s character even more because she’s awesome. She’s so much fun. She’s the girl you want to party with. She’s definitely the perfect wing woman. She’ll make sure you not only get the guy, but keep you straight on if it’s a hookup, something more, or if you’re not ready for that something more.
Diana (Miriam Shor) is just amazing this season. Each episode we are getting to see more of her. Sure, she’s out of touch but we’re learning that she actually respects Liza’s opinion. She’s taking her advice and has some of the best lines, like asking, “isn’t that what your imagination is for?” I couldn’t agree more, Diana.
One of the great things about this show is the light it shines on the publishing industry. We all know that the publishing business is in an evolving state at the moment. It’s old media meets new media in Younger at the moment. We’re all wondering where books are going, magazines, and newspapers too for that matter. This show is really delving into that this season. Bryce is pushing for Empirical to be just an app. Charles (Peter Hermann) confronted Bryce and said he was wrong, in turn, making Bryce leave.
Liza (Sutton Foster) was very happy with his decision and was quite moved by his speech to Bryce. Charles said he can be very impulsive when he follows his heart. There’s clearly something still there and it’s a bad time for it be resurfacing again for all those #TeamJosh fans.
Josh (Nico Tortorella) was asking a lot of pregnancy questions to the doctors he was partying with. Sounds like he wants to have kids with Liza, but Liza isn’t looking to have another kid. This doesn’t look good for them. I love them together but if Josh wants kids, they may not be right for each other.
Creator Darren Star said at PaleyFest, there will still be a question between Charles and Josh at the end of this season, so maybe we can hope the writers can write it so Josh and Liza end up together.
Regardless of the shakiness of Josh and Liza’s relationship at the moment, the show is better than ever right now.
