The last ten episodes of Teen Wolf went by way too fast. Creating an ending for a show is the hardest thing for a writer to do. I’ve seen some great finales and I’ve seen some bad ones too. It’s hard to give everyone the ending that they want and do justice for the story. I think Jeff Davis did justice for the story but he left one thing out of the finale, a last Stydia kiss.
Season 6B started out very scary. I think one thing Supernatural has taught us is that humans are scarier than anything supernatural. Granted, there was a supernatural being making the humans act out of fear but even after they defeated that, the humans were still coming after them. Really, that’s what made this part of the season so scary. All the supernatural beings were being hunted just because they were different. What humans don’t realize is that they are just the same as them. Yeah, they have supernatural abilities but some of them are good and some of them are bad.
This episode started in a very ominous tone. Gerard (Michael Hogan) knew where all of them were and he was coming after every one of them. And every one of them was ready to fight. I absolutely loved that Mama McCall (Melissa Ponzio) was in on the fight. I also loved that we got to see Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) in a hand-to-hand fight. He’s a bad ass and I don’t know why we haven’t seen him like that before.
Is it weird for me to say I was surprised there weren’t as many deaths in the finale? I guess you always go into a supernatural show knowing they won’t all live. I mean even in Pretty Little Liars not everyone survived and that’s not a supernatural show. I did like that they turned a lot of people to stone, so you got the terrifying aspect of being afraid the characters were going to die and then they didn’t die.
I really liked the ending. I like how they’ve all come together, Theo (Cody Christian) and Peter (Ian Bohen) included, and they are helping other supernatural beings protect themselves from Monroe (Sibongile Mlambo). I really like that Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) is back in the pack. It was really nice to have everyone back in the end and get the dynamic back that made the show so great.
Theo taking the pain away from that guy was a very special moment. It showed how far he had come. I also loved when Scott (Tyler Posey) scratched out his eyes. He always rises to the occasion but this was beyond what I thought he would do. Then, Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) came in and was a pivotal part of the plan once again. Mountain ash has saved them time and time again. There are so many times when Stiles has really been an integral part of the plan, so I’m glad they ended on that note too.
The moment between Lydia (Holland Roden) and Jackson (Colton Haynes) reunited was everything. I especially loved that she knew he was gay this whole time. Even though we may not have seen much of Jackson and Ethan (Charlie Carver), I will say they are one of my favorite couples on this show. They are so cute together. So thank you, Jeff, for making this ‘ship happen.
All in all, it was a great finale. Would I have liked to have seen more of Malia (Shelley Hennig) and Stiles? Yes. Would I have liked to have seen Lydia use her Banshee powers one more time? Yes. But it was great her telling Jackson what she had done. You can’t have it all in a series finale. I think we came as close to getting everything as we are going to get.
I’m very sad that this show is over. There were so many great characters, so many great storylines and now it’s all come to an end. It’s hard to really put into words what that means. So many shows have ended this season and it’s hard to have the final episode sink in. I think that’s why I always wait until the next day to actually write my final review. Even now, though, I don’t know what to say other than I liked it, I did feel satisfied but I’m still very sad to say goodbye to this show and its cast.
