The mid-season finale started out so nice with a wedding reception for Olicity. Then Quinton got that phone call and everything blew up after that.
I did not see one of the team betraying Oliver (Stephen Amell). While I think John (David Ramsey) was right about confronting and not spying, I completely understand why Oliver did. Oliver has always had a problem with trust. That’s a big part of the reason it took this long for him and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) to get married. I wouldn’t expect Oliver to do anything else.
I had no idea who would be the one to betray him. I couldn’t imagine any of them doing it. Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) looked the most guilty but I still couldn’t believe it was her. It wasn’t her fault though because apparently, her ex-boyfriend was working with the enemy. Arrow seems to be shadowing The Flash a little bit. They both have enemies that are one step ahead and spying on them.
It took me a long time to get used to the new team. Except for Curtis (Echo Kellum), I liked him way before be became part of Team Arrow. I was okay when Rene (Rick Gonzalez) and Dinah walked away but when Curtis said he was done, I just lost it. He was more betrayed than the other two but I think that’s because he’s friends with Felicity and he thought he was true friends with all of them.
Oliver was supposed to walk away from being the Green Arrow and only stepping back in until John is better but it doesn’t look like he’ll be stopping anytime soon. Now that most of the team is gone. Not that Oliver can’t handle himself by himself in the field, but still.
Oliver is just moving on so easily. I didn’t like having added people and I feel the sting. Still, the sting is more for Curtis than the others. Oliver isn’t just going against one enemy, he’s going against many. How can he handle that with basically just him and Felicity? John is out of the game right now.
On the one hand, Oliver needs to work on his trust issues still but on the other, how are you expected to react when you are told one of your own betrayed you?
On a happier note, It was great having Thea (Willa Holland) back. Clearly, we aren’t having Speedy back anytime soon but she’s alive and got to be at Oliver’s wedding reception and that’s what matters.
