Last week it looked like Oliver may be losing himself in prison. With everything he’s been through, it’s understandable, but this week showed how strong Oliver Queen is.
Since Oliver (Stephen Amell) went to prison, he’s been keeping his head down. He just wants to get through his sentence to get back to his family. Until Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) made a move, and he had to too. He found a way, so he thought, to find out where Diaz was. Turns out everything he put himself through was for nothing because the Demon didn’t know where is.
What he found was surprising. An old ally, Talia (Lexa Doig). She manipulated him to get to level two, so he could help her escape. Oliver can be easily manipulated when he’s trying to protect his family.
Maybe all of what he did wasn’t for nothing. I was so happy to see that Oliver is still in there. He fought for what was right, to get the physicist exposed. He did that and had no intentions of escaping. I thought he would run, but he’s right, he can’t live as a fugitive for the rest of his life.
Little does he know, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) may have found a way to get him out of prison. And that couldn’t have happened without exposing Level Two.
While I didn’t like the details of this storyline, Oliver getting manipulated and almost erased, there was a lot about this episode I did like. I especially enjoyed all the good Oliver fight scenes.
What I liked most about this episode happened on the outside of the prison. I said last week that I liked Laurel and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) teaming up, and this week I liked how this has changed Laurel. Helping Oliver actually made her open up to someone. She’s not telling Felicity her deepest darkest secrets, but she is wanting to get pizza with her. I’d say that’s progress.
I also liked that Curtis (Echo Kellum) got back in the field. He was great. And he’s also back to doing what he does best, exposing the truth. Argus is up to something, but what? It should come as no surprise seeing as so many of the agencies are corrupt on this show.
One of the things I really like about this season is how they are pushing Emily. Felicity is on the verge of a mental and physical breakdown. The only thing she can do to stay sane is finding Diaz. Her hyper personality is heightened to a level I’ve never seen before. And it got really bad when Oliver was in trouble. With the help of Laurel and Dinah (Juliana Harkavy), they were able to save him. It’s amazing how Team Arrow can work together when they don’t even know they are working together.
Felicity finally has a lead on Diaz and that doesn’t make Oliver happy. That makes him nervous. I think at that moment he was wishing he escaped. He can’t protect his wife where he is, and he can’t stop her from going after Diaz.
I’m happy that Felicity has found a way to cope, but I’m just hoping that she can keep her composure to finish the job. I’m not even sure what her endgame is. We are seeing a different side of Felicity, and we are seeing what she’s really capable of.
