The Oswald and Ed Bromance is Back

We’ve had a few scenes with Oswald and Ed this season of Gotham, but they haven’t spent much screen time together until the “Nothing’s Shocking” episode.

I’ve been waiting all season for these two to find their way back to each other, and they finally did last week. Who else do you go to but the smartest villain in Gotham when you’re out of options? Whatever the reason, I’m happy they are finally sharing the screen again.

It wasn’t a great start. Sure, Ed designed a submarine and they finally had a plan to leave Gotham, but Ed was doing all the work and what was Oswald doing? Finding muscle. What good did his muscle do? The first threat that came took him out.

I was not expecting to see Penn again, but we should never be surprised when someone comes back from the dead. It happens all the time in Gotham.

It took Penn and his dummy Scar Face to truly bring Oswald and Ed back together, and I’m here for it. I loved seeing Ed try and protect Oswald. He was willing to partner with Penn if that meant keeping Oswald alive.

The best part came when Ed shot Penn in the head and told Oswald that he knew he had to and they accept each other.

And Ed said: “Perhaps, Edward, we really are meant for each other.”

The writers made us wait a long time for this moment, but it was well worth the wait. They always find their way back to each other.

Now that the Oswald/Ed bromance is back, I don’t want the writers to separate them ever again. There are only four episodes left, and we need as much of them as we can get.

Sadly, our favorite bromance can’t end happily ever after, since that’s not where they are headed in the Batman world. Unless someone who reads the comics can tell me otherwise. I’ve only seen the films.

I hope somehow the writers can give us a satisfying ending for these two.
