The Final Arrow Premiere Destroys [Spoiler]

The final season of Arrow has started, and while I’m not ready for it be over (and still not happy Felicity is not in it), the writers have created an excellent way for us to say goodbye and be on the edge of our seats.

The writers are going to be pulling at our heartstrings. There were a lot of old faces that brought up a lot of memories. Though, on Earth 2, no one was as we once knew them. Maybe that was half the fun. We got to see the old faces, but the writers didn’t bring them back from the dead.

First, we got to see the island again, then Moria (Susanna Thompson), Tommy (Colin Donnell), Merlyn (John Barrowman), and Adrian (Josh Segarra). The writers are putting us on a goodbye tour of past actors/characters. The cast said at SCDD that every episode would be a coda to each season. This episode brought all the feels back of remembering season one and how far we’ve come since then. Though,  while Oliver (Stephen Amell) still tries to do it alone, he has come a long way.

I wasn’t quite sure what to think of the episode, at first. I was a little confused before I realized we were on a different Earth.

Then our John Diggle (David Ramsey) came to help Oliver, and all was right in the world. I know Oliver loves to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, but we can’t have a final season of Arrow without at least part of OTA. John would never let him go to his death alone. And I love the words he used to say it: “I will be damned if I just let you go gently into that good night.”

For the majority of Arrow, the writers have had a very formulated structure to tell the story. There are the present and flashbacks to the five years Oliver was missing. They mixed it up when with the flash-forwards, but the premise was pretty much the same.

Now, the writers are getting creative. I felt like season seven should have ended the show with Felicity’s goodbye, but I see why Oliver wanted to come back to do this. It’s different, but I think it’s going to be a great way to end the show and get us ready for the Infinite Crisis.

The Arrow writers aren’t playing in this final season. They destroyed Earth 2! What about Jesse and Dr. Wells? Are they two of the casualties of this Crisis? How will this affect The Flash?

After watching the season premieres of Supergirl and The Flash, I saw how intertwined this season of the Arrowverse would be, but this takes it to a whole new level.

I guess as we continue on this final season, no one is off-limits. Anyone can die.
