The pairings on All American in “After Hours” were quite interesting. I was prepared for some outrageous shenanigans.
There’s been a lot of intense episodes this season. So a fun one was what we needed.
I definitely want more of Grace (Karimah Westbrook) and Laura (Monet Mazur) scenes. It started awkwardly, but it turned into a full-fledged girls night out. I wasn’t sure what to expect when Denise (Alexis Fields) joined them, but wow! These ladies can get wild.
How much did they drink? A few rounds of shots, wine, and then a bottle of champagne each! How are they even standing after all of that?
Watching these ladies finally do something for themselves was my favorite part of the episode.
D’Angelo Carter (Lamon Archey) and Billy Baker (Taye Diggs) were doing their own bonding with some type of liquor. It turned into who is better at weight lifting and music. Both Carter and Baker are musically talented, but Carter is better at marriage. Billy could seriously use help in that department. It looks like he took a note from D’Angelo, he sent the poem to Laura, and they ended sneaking into their house for a booty call! It’s a good thing she was too drunk for Olivia (Samantha Logan) or Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) to ask too many questions.
And Billy helped Carter with Grace. Now that Billy and Carter have put aside their beef, I’m starting to come around to them being a couple. I guess all it took was for Carter punching Billy to smooth things over. Oh, and a drunken night of shenanigans.
The parents had the most fun in “After Hours.” Unfortunately, Layla (Greta Onieogou) and Liv’s girls’ night didn’t go as planned, mainly because Carrie (Anna Lore) tagged along.
This storyline reminds me a lot of Beverly Hills 90210. When Kelly got out of rehab, Tara, a friend she made in recovery, comes to stay with her. Tara was trying to become Kelly. It was a little creepy. Here is appears that Carrie is trying to come between Layla and Olivia. I love Layla’s heart, but I think Liv’s instincts are right here.
I know I asked for Layla to get her own storyline, but I’m scared for her.
The boys’ night out started not so well. Jordan and Asher (Cody Christian) invited Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Frausto (Noah Gray-Cabey) to a game of pool with $50 to the winner. But, of course, Spence and Frausto were still arguing, so they lost pretty quickly.
I love how Jordan and Ashe helped Spence and his teammate bond. They know they might face them in the championships or along the way, but Jordan and Asher are such good friends that they will help him out.
Just as Frausto and Spencer were starting to cool things down, Spence calling his Beverly friends’ family hit him hard. If Beverly and Crenshaw face off in the playoffs or the championships, that’s going to be one hell of a game. I think Frausto forgot that Jordan’s father is his coach. Lot’s of complications here, but I’m sure, come game day, they know what side they’re on.
I’m here for more mixed matches of Spence’s current team with his former team. Maybe his current team won’t hold his old Beverly ties against him as much if they understand it more. It’s not like Spence became rich in all of this. He’s just adjusted to having rich friends.
It was too funny having Jordan and Ashe pointing out to Spencer how much he has in common with Frausto. Spencer was like that in season one, and I had forgotten after everything they’ve been through.
