Tears, fear, frustration and then joy. The Walker season finale gave us a bit of everything.
We knew this would be one crazy ride, but it was even better than I expected. The acting on this show is incredible. Jared Padalecki was outstanding. We felt every emotion he was going through, and it was a lot. He was so angry and hurt by his friend. I thought Stan (Jeffrey Nordling) just covered up the murder. I was not expecting him to have a hand in it too. While he didn’t have much of a choice, he still had a choice, and if he had come forward from the get-go, I would be feeling sympathy for him. But, instead, I feel no sympathy. We just need to get him to testify.
Violet Brinson and Kale Brady Culley were also amazing. Stella (Violet) couldn’t understand why this man that was supposed to be like family, could sit there calling her sweet pea and her brother sport after what he had done. Stan even sent Cordell (Jared) away so he could keep his secret. It broke my heart when Auggie (Kale) found the playing chips. That’s when I knew Stan was more involved.
It was such an emotional scene as Stan told the Walker family exactly what happened the night of Emily’s (Genevieve Padalecki) death. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and Stan was so deep in, he had to kill her. How is it possible that this man won DA when he kills his friend’s wife?!
Then, we hear Geri (Odette Annable) talk about finding Emily. It’s just all so heartbreaking.
Walker didn’t just hit us with tears. It hit us with plenty of suspense. There are many dirty cops out there, and instead of trying to take Cordell and Stan in, they shot at him. But oh, did I love Cordi shooting back. I know he shouldn’t be kidnapping Stan, but it was so much fun.
My heart was pounding as Micki (Lindsey Morgan) and Trey (Jeff Pierre) were getting Carlos (Joe Perez) out of the hospital. I was so afraid there was going to be a shoot-out. We got that later. I love when it’s Tricki to the rescue, but wow, that scene was more intense than I was expecting. I love the acting and writing on this show.
We thought for a moment that Northside was going to go down, but of course, it was never going to be that easy. A sniper was ready for them and shot Stan and hit Cordell, but his vest saved him.
It turns out they weren’t going for Stan. There’s a group in El Toro, and they were aiming for Cordell. This family has been through so much, but I love the intense episodes, so this shows there are plenty more coming our way.
After learning that Cordell might have been the target, a guy was sitting in a dark room surveilling the entire family! That was so creepy. We’re in for a pretty crazy and scary season two.
Walker also gave us some joy in “Drive.” I loved all the moments with family. Micki invited both her moms over, and they had food with Trey and his mom. It was so nice to see them so happy, even if her mind was off elsewhere, with the offer to go undercover and the fact that Cordell is a target.
We are also finally getting a second chance at one of our fave couples, Bret (Alex Landi) and Liam (Keegan Allen)! I’m glad they are finding their way back to each other.
Then we got the sweetest moment with Abeline (Molly Hagan) and Bonham (Mitch Pileggi). They have come so far from episode one, where they hardly even spoke to each other.
Auggie and Stella had just as sweet as a moment with them reminiscing about their mom. And then Stella saying she wanted to go on an adventure. Then, Cordell comes home and tells them why he stayed in Austin—to start a family with their mom. While they were having this beautiful family moment, the ghost of their mother was watching them.
Walker is so good at giving us all of these great moments and feels. I’m excited for season two. Let the count down begin!
