So, the new villain on Superman & Lois wasn’t Doomsday, but it was just as exciting to meet the new enemy, especially for me, who never read the comics.
I was all here for Doomsday, primarily because of the name but also because everyone on Twitter seemed very excited. But then the villain gets out of the mines, and during the battle, his helmet broke, and we could see a face that looked like Superman’s, but a very evil version. It turns out it’s not Doomsday. It’s Bizarro. Or at least that’s what I can tell from Twitter. I don’t have to read the comics to learn about the villains. I have Twitter.
Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) against Superman is quite an intense fight. They both are the strongest beings on earth. It now makes sense why Clark Kent has been having these visions. He’s connected to this other Superman. I have two questions, what earth is Superman from, and how did he get here?
He’s pretty creepy looking, in a good way. I hope people dress up as Bizarro Superman for Halloween.
I’m excited for this new villain, not just because it will be tough to beat him but also because John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) is back in the game! Sure, I was happy with him just doing the research, but I’m much more pleased with him being all in. And I love that Natalie Irons (Tayler Buck) will help him fix the suite. This is their new normal now. Let’s face it, if you know Clark’s secret, can you really stay on the sidelines and not help?
While we were waiting for the new enemy to make its first official appearance, many other things happened during this episode. The biggest thing was the visions and attacks plaguing Superman as Bizarro got closer to the surface. He lost it with Jordan Kent (Alex Garfin). To be fair, with good reason. Jordan wanted to tell Sarah Cushing (Inde Navarrette) their secret. Jordan doesn’t even understand the magnitude of this yet. As sweet as it was, I can understand Clark getting mad. It appears that high-stress situations make him lose control. Jordan wanting to tell Sarah their secret is one of them, and Jonathan Kent (Jordan Elsass) starting a fight is another one. He lost control then too.
Lois Lane (Bitsie Tulloch) connected the dots, saying he feels what the creature is feeling. It makes even more sense now that we know what it was. And it also makes sense that his moments of anger connected him and Bizarro even more.
And major props for Tyler in these scenes. Even if we didn’t have the special effects of the red eyes, he sold it. He’s so good with this physical acting. But of course, he would be after all of his time being a werewolf on Teen Wolf.
Bitsie is also killing it like she did last season. She’s got so much family stuff to work with. I loved the scenes with her and her father, Sam Lane (Dylan Walsh). He’s never been that great at being a father or grandfather, though he’s getting better at the latter. We are learning more about the Lane family, and I’m here for it. I want to know more about their past.
We thought we would get to see Jenna Dewan again as Lucy, but instead, a strange woman appeared in her place, who I believe is Ali, the cult leader. So it looks like Lucy has re-joined the cult. But, as I said last week, Lois already has enough to deal with.
Things were looking up a little bit of Jordan this week. While Sarah hurt him, he doesn’t ever want to break up with her, which is why he wanted to share his secret. But Clark came up with another way to reconnect with her, his grandmother’s necklace. Jordan’s grandfather gave it to his grandmother when they were in high school, and he knew he wanted to be with her. That’s a good one, Clark. Hopefully, it holds him off wanting to tell Sarah for a while.
Jonathan, on the other hand, went down a very bad rabbit hole. He was consumed with his teammate all of a sudden having superstrength. And when he found out it was the x-kryptonite, and it was his girlfriend selling it, instead of going to his mom or father, he went to his girlfriend to buy some. This won’t end well. And his parents already have enough on their plate.
Once again, I’m ending my post with Lana Cushing (Emmanuelle Chriqui). Her mayoral campaign got off to a rocky start. However, I stand by that she answered all of their questions, even if they said otherwise. But Sarah found a way to help her mom connect with voters by helping her be more herself and not what she thought everyone wanted her to be. I loved that Sarah had her mom do an Instagram Live while cooking. This was perfect. I’m excited about this storyline but will be very upset if the writers have her lose.
